Law Enforcement professionals

Are you a progressive agency looking for innovative strategies to better equip your personnel with the necessary skills needed to navigate today’s shifting communication barriers? Motivational Interviewing is an essential tool for today’s evolving law enforcement professional. Created as a highly successful change management process, it arranges conversations in such a way where someone talks themselves into change based on their own values. However, for the modern law enforcement professional it is much more. Motivational Interviewing uses an empathetic and collaborative style of communication strategically built from: partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation; which is specifically designed to connect with people. There is no greater communication construct than M.I.!

Examples of Motivational Interviewing for law enforcement can be used in the following professions

  • Police Officers
  • Protective Services
  • Corrections
  • Juvenile Justice
  • Court Personnel
  • Victim Advocacy
  • Probation Officers
  • Parole Officer
  • Field Training Officers
  • Police Dispatch
  • Hospital security
  • Crisis Units
  • Special Victim’s Units
  • Interviewers
  • Hostage Negotiators

We have created a 3-part, training series where each class beautifully acts as both a cumulative and standalone training module to build the fundamental principles of M.I. for law enforcement professionals.  Each course is specifically designed to focus on a different and specific key element of M.I. for law enforcement while concurrently re-introducing and practicing past instructions to the potentially returning student.   Therefore, we have given the student the autonomy to select an M.I. specific discipline which fits their role/purpose or the decision to go through the entire 3-part training series to gain proficiency, confidence and ultimately fidelity as a Master Practitioner by the final course.
